Hags Pottery Garden Studio

Children's Art School has been very quiet over the last few years, but never went away.

I have been leading an Art and DT department at a local prep school while colleagues kept our founding After-School Art Club at Pelham Primary School thriving.

Covid-19 meant that our art workshop activity had to stop, and was life changing for me in many ways, so it meant that Children's Art School became reformulated in my mind and is re-born as Hags Pottery.

During lockdown I discovered a new passion - ceramics - I suddenly had a bit of space to immerse myself in a new skill and found that it made me immensely happy. I took the plunge, enrolled in some courses and practiced in every moment I had. That was two years ago.

I became addicted and took the opportunity, while renovating our property, to build a small studio in the garden.

I am now planning a new phase of Children's Art School at Hags Pottery. It will be smaller and more specialist, and will allow me the space to feed my own creativity and work alongside my students in learning a new process.

Hags Pottery (more on the choice of name in another blog post) will host small after-school art classes for no more than five children and provide a course of art activities including - but not exclusively - pottery. I have the facilities to make, fire and glaze work, and support children to do this themselves.

I will also offer morning and evening sessions for adults to share in my ethos of experimenting with materials and techniques in an informal environment. A place for friends to meet, make and explore while producing something beautiful and useful!
