Cannizaro: Art in the Park

Sunday 17th September 2023

Hags Pottery took part in our local Art in the Park event last weekend, we had the joy of working with children and their families to create beautiful ceramic leaf prints - capturing the intricate details of nature in clay, before glazing and firing them to preserve their delicate textures. Watching young hands press leaves into soft clay, discovering the veins and edges that would later emerge in vibrant colour, was a magical experience.

All participants visited the pottery studio in the following weeks to collect their finished fired bowl.

Set within the stunning surroundings of the Grade II listed Cannizaro Park, this event was a haven for art lovers, nature enthusiasts, and families alike. From sculpting with natural materials to giant communal drawings, creativity flowed freely beneath the park’s leafy canopy. Visitors followed the sculpture trail through the trees, leading them to the Cannizaro Art Studios, where artists’ works come to life over the weekend.

Just beyond the park entrance, the lawn in front of the elegant Cannizaro House transformed into an art fair. Dozens of talented artists and makers showcased their work in painting, printmaking, ceramics, and jewellery-making - offering inspiration at every turn. Whether you come to create, admire, or take home a unique piece of art, Art in the Park was a celebration of creativity in its most natural and welcoming form.
